Issue 10349: Page: 4-1 to 4-4 (lwlog-rtf) Source: (Mr. Michael S. Gudaitis, ) Nature: Clarification Severity: Critical Summary: The IDL in Section 4 does not match the descriptive text in Section 2. Some examples: struct AvailabilityState: offDuty (p 2-6) vs off_duty (p 4-2); logFull (p 2-6) vs log_full (p 4-2). interface LogStatus: getMaxSize (p 2-8) vs get_max_size (p 4-3); getCurrentSize ((p 2-9) vs get_current_size (p 4-3); getNumRecords (p 2-10) vs get_n_records (p 4-3); etc. etc. (many other mistakes!!). What takes precedence, the IDL in section 4, or the text in section 2? I can provide a detailed list of all the mistakes that need to be corrected. Chapter 3 describes the platform specific model (PSM) for the lw logging service. Chapter 4 consolidates the IDL for the platform specific model. So chapter 4 is consistent with chapter 3. It is unfortunate but entirely valid that the PSM uses a different naming convention than the PIM. My understanding is that the PSM kept the naming convention from the original SCA logging service, and when the PIM was "reverse engineered" from the PSM, it adopted the naming convention that at the time was being used by most OMG PIMs. Frank -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Juergen Boldt [mailto:juergen@omg.org] Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 13:31 To: issues@omg.org; lwlog-rtf@omg.org Subject: issue 10349 -- LwLog RTF issue (not chartered at this point) Importance: High From: webmaster@omg.org Date: 18 Sep 2006 14:53:40 -0400 To: Subject: Issue/Bug Report -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Michael Gudaitis Company: L-3 Communications mailFrom: mike.gudaitis@L-3Com.com Notification: Yes Specification: LightWeight Log Service Section: 4 FormalNumber: formal/2005-05-02 Version: 1.1 RevisionDate: 02/02/2005 Page: 4-1 to 4-4 Nature: Clarification Severity: Critical HTTP User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Description The IDL in Section 4 does not match the descriptive text in Section 2.
