Summary: In the text on page 228 it says "Data association elements have one or more sources and a target", but in the meta-model in figure 10.64 the association is marked as "*" meaning it is also possible to have 0 sources. As well as in table 10.63: "sourceRef:ItemAwareElement [0..*]". 

It is not clear how many sources of a data association are allowed now.
