In page 163 (SysML v1.2). It is stated that: "The «system» and «external» stereotypes are user defined, not specified in SysML, but help the modeler to identify the system of interest relative to its environment.". I guess this applies to "<>" as well. However, for <>, this is part of the the Diagram notation itself as defined in page 157: "Each SysML diagram has a frame, with a contents area, a heading, and a Diagram Description". Fig. A-2 shows the notation of Diagrams. It mens it is not an stereotype but part of the notation. 2. It seems the figure B.31 is incomplete, but as we know this is not formally wrong in UML since Properties can be not visible. I agree though it should be completed to avoid ambiguity.
