Issue 16499: Label and URI properties are duplicated on many elements in the RDF and OWL profiles (odm-rtf) Source: Thematix Partners LLC (Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall, ekendall(at)thematix.com) Nature: Revision Severity: Significant Summary: Need better integration of the notions of labeled and named resources in the RDF profile: RDF resources may have multiple "PlainLiteral" labels in their RDFSlabel property, and multiple "PlainLiteral" comments in their RDFScomment property (where a plain literal includes a value string and language definition encoding). The same issue is prevalent in the OWL profile. These label and URI elements should reuse the same UML properties rather than proliferate duplicates. Resolution: see pages 171 - 175 of ptc/2013-12-01 for details Revised Text: Actions taken: August 19, 2011: received issue April 25, 2014: closed issue Discussion: The current profiles for RDF and OWL provide many examples of unique properties representing the URI/IRI and/or label on stereotypes, for example, for the definition of RDFProperty as defined in 14.1.7.1, which has its own uriref property. This means that the XMI for any vocabulary or ontology developed in tools that implement the profile will necessarily include many definitions of uriref, uri, and label, each of which has a unique UUID. In order to ensure that any profile element, in either the RDF or OWL profile, that can be labeled and/or named (i.e., can have an IRI), has the same label and identifier (name/IRI) property rather than one of several, additional, abstract stereotypes that provide a single source for each of these are needed. These new stereotypes can be applied in the RDF profile and inherited by stereotypes in the OWL profile to fulfill the requirement.
