Issue 18784: Implementation Guide (reqif-rtf) Source: Atego (Mr. Hedley Apperly, hedley.apperly(at)atego.com) Nature: Clarification Severity: Significant Summary: As discussed at the co-located Req-IF/OMG meeting in Berlin (June 2013) it would be more in the spirit of OMG standard openness to include the non-normative recommendations for implementing the standard, in the standard document itself, rather than as a link to a non-OMG web site where there is a charge of 90 Euros to download the 'implementation guide'. This issue should be considered for resolution and could either result in; 1/ removal of section 12 Annex A from the specification, so that it stands alone, 2/ creating the 'implementation guide' as a freely available OMG document (still linked from the specification) or 3/ including the non-normative implementation guidelines as a section directly in the specification. I appreciate this. I am sure, the RTF will discuss about the content of ReqIF at its next meeting. Just to phrase some of my thoughts aside of your issue: I think you are aware of the fact that I tried for many year in getting Atego involved within the concrete implementation activities we are driving in ProSTEP iViP, where the participants spent effort and money into the project to provide supporting information. And maybe you are also aware that ProSTEP iViP is currently driving a global initiative called Codex of PLM Openness (CPO) - http://www.prostep.org/en/cpo.html. Everybody is invited. Following this spirit and common sense, asking for an symbolic amount of money could not be a show stopper for implementers. We observe, that our initiatives really pushed the industrial adoption of OMG.s ReqIF. And that was our aim.
