Issue 18862: Revise the RDF Metamodel and Profile to support RDF source and dataset (odm-rtf) Source: Thematix Partners LLC (Mrs. Elisa F. Kendall, ekendall(at)thematix.com) Nature: Revision Severity: Significant Summary: The RDF 1.1 Concepts and Abstract Syntax document, which has been stable for months and is now in Last Call at the W3C, has substantially redefined the notion of packaging from the perspective of an RDF vocabulary. An RDF source can include documents as well as realizations of an RDF graph in a repository, such as a triple store, which and been a gaping hole in earlier versions of the specification. These revisions are critical to proper packaging of RDF in ODM applications, and should be reflected in the metamodel and profile. Resolution: see pages 187 - 196 of ptc/2013-12-01 for details Revised Text: Actions taken: August 20, 2013: received issue April 25, 2014: closed issue Discussion: The resolution described below was developed after many months’ discussion within the RTF and with external experts involved in the RDF 1.1 revision. For historical context, the RTF identified a gap in mid- to late-2011, whose issue we addressed with a stereotype and set of relationships we called a “MagicBox” (to the consternation of some RTF members and others), to fill the role of what the RDF 1.1 working group identified in parallel as an “RDF Source”. That solution has evolved over time and after significant discussion among RTF members into what is presented below. The solution for the profile has been vetted in the Visual Ontology Modeler plug-in for MagicDraw and is used for both the IEPPV and FIBO ontologies. The approach taken for the metamodel is under development by Adaptive, but has been reviewed by RDF experts and is considered an accurate representation.
