If the editor (and possibly implementors) were happy to do the work to enact the change then i'd support it but since i'm not the editor i won't try to force it on someone else. Other changes already impact the on-the-wire format so the question comes down to the amount of editorial work. I'll vote for the resolution that Rob recommends.
