Issue 5856: Bad text in 22.6 mandates Routing for sendc/sendp (corba-rtf) Source: Floorboard Software (Mr. Jonathan Biggar, jon(at)floorboard.com) Nature: Uncategorized Issue Severity: Summary: There is a sentence in the first paragraph of 22.6 that should be fixed: "The implementation of these methods must generate a method invocation as described in Section 22.14, Message Routing, on page 22-50." However, 22.2.5.3 allows asynchronous invocations to be delivered via synchronous protocols if the RoutingPolicy is ROUTE_NONE. This sentence should be changed to: "The implementation of these methods may generate a method invocation as described in Section 22.14, Message Routing, on page 22-50, depending on the effective RoutingPolicy for the invocation." According to the P&P and general operating traditions of RTFs, we do need to get "Editorial" certification from Andrew before this can be done editorially. I am personally unwilling to ask for such certification until the RTF voting members have had a chance to review this and agree that this can be done ditorially. Members of the CORBA Core RTF, please let me know by 2400 GMT of March 1, 2003 if you think this *should not be fixed editorially*. If I do not hear from you by the deadline I will assume that it is OK to fix this editorially. At that point I will ask Andrew to certify this as an editorial change, and then Linda will be able to incorporate this change in CORBA 3.1. OTOH, if I hear a cogent technical reason from even one member for not doing this editorially, I will tend towards not asking for such certification from Andrew. I would like to make sure that the RTF members are OK with this change and that Andrew is willing to certify this as editorial before we incorporate it editorially. So, Linda, please *do not* make this editorial change until we have followed the procedure properly. Thanks, Jishnu. This is apropos the telephone conversation we had last week about getting this piddly little change done in 3.1 instead of letting this absurd editorial error stay in the standard for another year. The Core RTF agrees violently with making this editorial change. Linda, Once Andrew has blessed this editorial change please go ahead and make the change. Juergen, Once Andrew has blessed this editorial change, please close this issue as fixed editorially.
