Issue 6337: Figure 61 (uml2-superstructure-ftf) Source: The MathWorks (Mr. Alan Moore, alan.moore(at)mathworks.co.uk) Nature: Uncategorized Issue Severity: Summary: Figure 61 - shows a ball connected to a cup, but this notation is not shown in the Diagrams section (7.18). It's not clear whether this is actually an Assembly Connector, or some other concept. The spec should be clear on whether this is an additional notation or not. Resolution: see above Revised Text: Actions taken: October 20, 2003: received issue March 8, 2005: closed issue Discussion: The diagram in question is the following one: ISensor TheftAlarm ProximitySensor It shows two classifiers apparently joined via their implemented/required interfaces. Unfortunately, this notation conflicts with the notation used in the Components chapter, where the ball- in-socket combination implies a connector (I have seen this cause the same type of confusion in at least one other case). The notation above is questionable as it is: it is not clear whether it represents a statement that somehow relates the two classifiers or not, or whether it is merely a statement about the relationship between the two interfaces (note that the two interfaces do not necessarily have to be the same type as shown in this diagram). Therefore, this resolution proposes that the ball- in-socket notation be used exclusively for implicit connectors, to eliminate such confusion. This means the following change to the text: ?? Remove figure 61 from the spec and the entire paragraph immediately preceding it.
