A more comprehensive explanation of the rationale for package merge has been provided
as part of the resolution to issue 6279. Clarifications are given of the abstract example in
47. However, the UML metamodel itself is a concrete and extremely comprehensive
example of the usage of package merge. This too has been pointed out in the text for the
resolution to issue 6279.
