Issue 7372: surface notation for state machines (uml2-rtf) Source: Missouri University of Science and Technology (Dr. Thomas Weigert, weigert(at)mst.edu) Nature: Clarification Severity: Minor Summary: The surface notation for state machines allows to show, on the line representing a transition, certain key actions that will be performed by the behavior associated with the transition. This is straightforward, when the behavior is an activity (as those actions can be referenced). However, for any other behavior, e.g., an opaque behavior, we need a method of (in the metamodel) show that this behavior does contain certain actions. Note that this should not give an alternative way of defining sequences of actions; rather, this should merely state that this behavior will contain the exhibited actions but it may contain many more. Those actions would merely give a means of representing the graphical constructs in the metamodel Resolution: Revised Text: Actions taken: May 24, 2004: received issue Discussion: Disposition: Deferred to UML 2.4 RTF End of Annotations:===== m: webmaster@omg.org Date: 24 May 2004 07:44:44 -0400 To: Subject: Issue/Bug Report -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Thomas Weigert Company: Motorola mailFrom: thomas.weigert@motorola.com Notification: No Specification: UML Section: 13 FormalNumber: ptc/03-08-02 Version: 2.0 RevisionDate: 02/08/2003 Page: 369 Nature: Clarification Severity: Minor HTTP User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) Description The surface notation for state machines allows to show, on the line representing a transition, certain key actions that will be performed by the behavior associated with the transition.
