Summary: Please accept the following as an Issue for the UML 2 FTF. 
  
State Machine Package--Compliance 
  
Compliance with the state machine package is too onerous for 
many vendors.  
  
There is no need--for many of us--to include choice points, entry 
points, and other elements. 
  
An suggested layering would consist of: 
Layer 1: Initial pseudo states, states, final states, events,  transitions. 
Layer 2: Stuff required to support hierarchy 
Layer 3: Stuff required to support orthogonal regions. 
Layer 4: All the rest.
