Future Complex Event Processing Standards

OMG Technical Meeting - Washington, DC USA

Thursday, March 13, 2008

| Registration | Hotel Information | All Special Events | Back to TC Meeting Info |

The use of Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology is rapidly increasing in government and industrial applications. All of the current products have the capability to monitor large data flows, detect pre-specified patterns, and report significant events in near real time. In the future, it will be necessary for heterogeneous CEP products to interoperate across organizational boundaries. Unfortunately there are no standards in place to enable this interoperability.

However, the CEP market is still evolving and it will be possible to proactively discuss future standardizations at the OMG Session. The speakers will include CEP industry leaders, integration middleware vendors, and OMG representatives.
The purpose of the Session is to explore opportunities for collaboration between the OMG and the CEP community on interoperability standards (e.g. a Complex Event Description Language based on an OMG Event Metamodel).

This Session should be valuable to technologists interested in learning the status of Complex Event Processing applications and standards. There will also be a chance to influence the pace and direction of future CEP standards activities.
