OMG TECHNICAL MEETING SPECIAL EVENT

Value Modeling Information Day
Business Model and Service Innovation Using Value Models

Wednesday, December 14, 2011, Santa Clara, CA

| Registration | Hotel |

The emerging OMG standard VDML, Value Delivery Metamodel, provides a foundation for value modeling for different purposes, such as Business Model Innovation and Service Innovation and Design - as well as for organizational analysis and development of networked enterprises. VDML unifies different approaches for value modeling, including value networks, value chains and value streams, Resource-Event-Agent analysis models, business models and service models.

The Information Day will give a practical introduction to VDML, illustrated through a common example, explained from the various perspectives of VDML. The focus will be on a practical approach for Business Model Innovation using collaboration models and value models based on VDML as a foundation. Practical examples of Value Network Analysis, Business Model Innovation and Service Innovation will be illustrated.

The VDML standard will also be related to the ongoing OMG effort on Business Architecture, as a fundamental part of Enterprise Architecture, and the OMG Business Ecology Initiative (BEI). The presentations will be followed by an interactive discussion of the group.

Although REA (Resources, Events, Agents) was originally proposed as a generalized accounting model, it has developed into an ontology for business ecosystems and a metamodel for enterprise information architectures using economic laws to measure, explain and predict the value-related consequences of the actions of people and organizations. This will also be illustrated for value modeling related to services.
