As you might have observed over the last 18 months, Green and Sustainability have become popular Terms across the private & public sector as well as academics. While this is refreshing news, we are also confronted with addressing the challenge of:

  • What do we mean by Green and Sustainability? Is there a standard vocabulary of Green and Sustainability concepts and related nuances that can be used and extended internally (if needed)?
  • If an organization is ”Green” is it also Sustainable?
  • What are the different ”Dimensions”/Perspectives of Green and Sustainability?
  • Is it all about energy efficiency, recycling, and carbon footprint? What about supply-chain, facilities, business operations and regulatory compliance in the context of Green and Sustainability?
  • How does an organization “Define, Assess, Measure, Analyze, Report and Report” on the current and future state of its Green and Sustainability using a standard set of Indicators (a.k.a. Metrics)?
  • What standards we can leverage for assessment and reporting?
  • Is there a single authentic resource to search different standards being developed and what aspects of Green and Sustainability do they focus on?
  • What “Green” Regulations an organization might need to comply with and what Incentives (if any) might be available?

OMG and CiOZone leadership invite you to an exciting Information Day where industry experts will provide valuable insights on the above challenges and opportunities. The Information Day will conclude with an invigorating discussion on “How attainable is Green and Sustainability? or is it merely a Pipe Dream? Where is the truth between ‘Greenwash’ and genuine ‘Greenbashing’?”

Roger Green, a seasoned practitioner, tech visionary and Editor at CIOZone will moderate the Information Day including the panel discussion.

Roger and Karen Larkowski, general manager of OMG’s Business Ecology Initiative (BEI) will set the stage for the day’s presentations by discussing the current state of green/sustainable initiatives, take a look at the opportunities and challenges going forward and speculate on what the successes might be. Udo Waibel, CTO of Hara Software will talk about growth and profit in the Post-carbon economy including implications on an organization in an economy where carbon has a price.

Senior executives from Computer Associates, National Institute of Standards, Raytheon, Aberdeen Group, OMG and noted industry consultants will discuss their experience in implementing Green and Sustainability initiatives and role of standards in this space. This Information Day is targeted to C-level executives as well as Directors of business operations, architecture, technology and regulatory compliance who are interested in green and sustainability.
