Source Software
and OMG Open Specifications
Sunday, March 25, 2012
Hyatt Regency Reston Hotel,
Reston, Virginia, USA
HOSTED BY:
|
Eclipse is an open source community, whose projects are
focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible
frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software
across the lifecycle. Most Eclipse projects use specifications in some form
- in many cases these are OMG specifications.
OMG™ is an international, open membership,
not-for-profit computer industry consortium which develops enterprise
integration specifications, many of which have been implemented in Eclipse
projects.

| In 2008 and 2010 the two organizations jointly ran
one-day symposia to promote and build on the partnership between Eclipse's
open source software and OMG's open specifications:
Following the success of these events, OMG and Eclipse
will hold a further one-day workshop in Reston, Virginia on the weekend
between OMG's quarterly Technical Meeting and EclipseCon North America 2012,
both of which are being held in the same venue:
The symposium will be run as a series of sessions on
OMG standards and corresponding Eclipse projects, to discuss the alignment
between current specifications and implemented software, and identify areas
where the cooperation could be further improved in future.
This is a further opportunity to participate in shaping
the joint future of the Eclipse Open Source community and the OMG Open
Specifications community. Please join us for stimulating technical planning
and discussion in this exciting area.
