The OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™) is a
general-purpose graphical modeling language for specifying,
analyzing, designing, and verifying complex systems that may include
hardware, software, information, personnel, procedures, and
facilities. In particular, the language provides graphical
representations with a semantic foundation for modeling system
requirements, behavior, structure, and parametrics. SysML represents
a subset of UML 2 with extensions needed to satisfy the
requirements of the UML™ for Systems Engineering RFP. SysML also leverages
the OMG XML Metadata Interchange (XMI®) to exchange modeling data
between tools. Refer to http://www.omgsysml.org
for more information on SysML. The OMG SysML™ specification was adopted in 2006 and became officially an available specification v1.0 in September 2007. SysML v1.1 was adopted by the OMG in September 2008. Several tool vendors have implemented SysML in their tools, various books and articles have been written, and academia has begun to offer courses that include SysML. Early adopters across industry have begun to use SysML in a broad range of aerospace and commercial applications. This experience and infrastructure is providing a foundation for more wide spread adoption of the language as part of a model-based systems engineering approach. Event Summary Refer to the SysML Information Days Summary at http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?syseng/08-12-01, The presentations are also included as links from the agenda below. NOTE: If you register for the Technical Meeting Week, you do not have to pay the additional fee(s) to attend any or all of the special events. If you register only for special events, the special fees apply. INCOSE members are eligible foe a discount as indicated on the registration page. Why attend The Information Days will bring to bear practitioners, tool vendors and
academia to share what they have learned from their early expereinces with
SysML. They will share what is working, what isn't, what are the benefits,
risks, and issues that need to be addressed. This event will enable those
who are new to SysML to get a basic introduction to SysML and see how it
is being applied. The event will enable more experienced users to learn
from others and have a forum for sharing their experiences. Others can
learn how SysML is being taught and how to best deploy SysML into an
organization. Finally, the event will provide a look at the future
directions for SysML and how it can evolve to SysML v2.0 and beyond. Who should attend
