Transportation Information DayOMG Technical Meeting Special EventJacksonville, FL USA - September 24, 2007 [ Agenda ][ Registration ][ All Special Events ][ Back to TC Meeting Info ] Transportation Information Day Overview The Transportation Travel segment has expanded customer self-service through end-to-end travel portals. Travelers can book hotels, airlines, and car rentals on a single site. Consumers can shop online and have their items shipped directly to them. The Transportation Logistics segment provides the linked services to deliver these goods with online traceability to track pickup and delivery status whether by air, sea, or truck. Standards used by the transportation industry help make this possible. Linking communications across partner services and presenting them back in a well orchestrated portal relies heavily on standard services - semantics, elements, and technical representation. The Transportation Industry has excelled with innovative leadership in the WebServices and SOA arenas. This Transportation Industry Information Day will share successes, lessons learned, case studies, and thoughts about the fast evolving use of standards to enable SOA, WebServices, Mashups and other new communication mechanisms.
