Join us in Reston, Virginia on March 22, 2017 for a closer look at how OMG standards are shaping a more secure Industrial Internet of Things.

Experts predict that the Industrial Internet of Things will disrupt entire industries and instigate sweeping changes in the way of doing business for years to come. And while there are enormous benefits in efficiency and economy, these benefits can only be achieved by overcoming challenges that range from the need for a new distributed computing architecture to security and privacy risks. While the need for standards and better protocols for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and data sharing is clear, the need to address these other challenges is now coming into focus.

This presentation by the Object Management Group® (OMG®) will take a closer look at some of the challenges and opportunities presented by the Industrial Internet of Things. Featured Speakers include:

Robert Martin, Senior Principal Engineer, Cyber Security Partnerships, The MITRE Corporation
Dr. Allan Friedman, Director of Cybersecurity Initiatives,National Telecommunications and Information Administration, US Department of Commerce
Dr. Ben Calloni, Lockheed Martin Fellow, Lockheed Martin and Co-Chair OMG System Assurance Task Force
Stephen Mellor, Chieft Technical Officer, Industrial Internet Consortium

OMG has been active in IIoT standardization from long before "IIoT" became an industry buzzword. Many OMG standards are proving integral to IIoT efforts around the globe; DDS™ (Data Distribution Service™), SysML™ (Systems Modeling Language™) and IFML™ (Interaction Flow Modeling Language™) are contributing to the improved productivity, major cost savings, and streamlined processes of the Industrial Internet.

OMG's Middleware and Related Services (MARS) Task Force continues to evolve specifications for the Data Distribution Service (DDS™), a publish-and-subscribe protocol with quality of service controls that is uniquely suited to the Industrial Internet.OMG's Systems Assurance Task Force (SysA TF) works on standards that ensure the reliability, safety and security of IIoT systems to help the Industrial Internet of Things deliver on its promise without succumbing to the threats it faces. In addition, the OMG-managed Consortium for IT Software Quality™ (CISQ™) specifies how to measure quality points including reliability and security that are vital to the systems and processes of the Industrial Internet.
