OMG Finalizes Adoption of Business Process
Maturity Model;
Advances Standards at Technical Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Meeting March 10-14 also hosted seminars and
co-located meeting of the SOA Consortium
Needham, MA, USA - March 25, 2008 - Members of the Object Management
Group™ (OMG™) met in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. during the week of March
10-14, 2008. At this meeting, two revised specifications finished the
adoption process and were approved by the OMG Board of Directors. The
Technology Committees also approved the issuance of seven new requests for
information/proposal. This meeting was co-located with the SOA
Consortium.
The OMG Board of Directors voted to approve two specifications:
- Business Modeling: Business Process Maturity Model (BPMM)
Finalization
The BPMM describes an evolutionary improvement path that guides
organizations in moving from immature, inconsistent business
activities to mature, disciplined processes. The BPMM orders these
stages so that improvements at each stage provide a foundation on
which to build improvements undertaken at the next stage. Thus, an
improvement strategy drawn from the BPMM provides a roadmap for
continuous process improvement. It helps identify process deficiencies
in the organization and guides the improvements in logical,
incremental steps.
- CORBA®: Enhanced View of Time Finalization
This is a revised and upgraded version of the Enhanced View of Time
specification.
Additional Specifications Moving Toward Adoption
In addition to the specifications mentioned, the following
specifications are expected to go before the OMG Board of Directors for
adoption at the next meeting.
- 2nd CORBA/e Final Report
- ALMAS for CMS Systems Revised Submission
- Ground Equipment Management Service (GEMS) Revised Submission
- Phenotype and Genotype Object Model
- PIM & PSM for Smart Antenna Revised Submission
