OMG Advances Standards at Technical Meeting; Elects New Board Members in Santa Clara, Calif.
Meeting December 8-12 also featured SysML Information Days,
and co-located meetings of the BPM Consortium and SOA Consortium

Needham, MA, USA - December 22, 2008 - Members of the Object Management Group™ (OMG™) met in Santa Clara, Calif., during the week of December 8-12, 2008. At this meeting, three final reports for specifications finished the adoption process and were approved by the OMG Board of Directors. The Technology Committees approved the issuance of four new requests for information/proposal. Four members were elected to the OMG Board of Directors. A new task force, the System Assurance PTF, was chartered. This meeting was co-located with the SOA Consortium and the BPM Consortium.

The following were elected to serve on the OMG Board of Directors:

  • Pete Rivett, CTO, Adaptive
  • Rob James, Director of IT Architecture, HSBC
  • Richard A. Russel, Business Development Technologist, Northrop Grumman
  • Robert Lario, Principal, Visumpoint

In addition to the specifications mentioned, the following specifications are expected to go before the OMG Board of Directors for adoption at the next meeting.

OMG is an open-membership organization and welcomes any organization, government agency, or university to join and contribute to our specifications. The following were issued in Santa Clara and are currently open to participation.

For some processes, member votes have extended the Letter of Intent (LOI) dates beyond the deadline stated in the Request for Proposals (RFP). New Task Force
The System Assurance PTF was chartered in Santa Clara. This new task force combines the interests and work of the Real-time and Embedded Systems Task Force and the Software Assurance Special Interest Group. Djenana Campara, CEO, Hatha Systems and Ben Calloni, Lockheed Martin Fellow, Lockheed Martin, are acting co-chairs of the new Task Force.
