UML Technology Institute (UTI) Becomes
Certification Partner in OMG Program to Certify Practitioners
of Model-Based Systems Engineering Using SysML
UTI Will Administer Certification Program in Japanese Language
Throughout Asia
Needham, MA, USA - November 30, 2009 - OMG™ and the UML Technology
Institute (UTI) announce that UTI is extending its worldwide partnership
as OMG Certification Partner with its participation in OMG's program to
certify practitioners of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using the
Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™). In this role, UTI will
administer testing and certification of MBSE practitioners in the Japanese
language throughout Asia.
Through this program, OMG will award the OMG Certified Systems Modeling
Professional™ (OCSMP™) certification at four levels. The first level,
OCSMP-Certified Model User, is suitable for anyone who contributes to a
model-based systems engineering project. Building on this foundation are
three levels targeted at model builders and advanced model users, termed
OCSMP-Certified Model Builder - Fundamental, Intermediate, and Advanced.
As OMG's partner, UTI will translate the OCSMP examinations into
Japanese and take responsibility for the Japanese language program,
overseeing the administration of examinations to candidates and awarding
certificates to successful candidates. The title of Certification Partner
reflects UTI's high level of support for the creation of the examinations
that make up the OCSMP program. OMG will continue to administer the
examinations in English worldwide, including Asia.
"OMG is extremely pleased to welcome UTI to their familiar role of
Certification Partner for the OCSMP program," said Richard Mark Soley,
Ph.D., chairman and CEO of OMG. "UTI's partnership was crucial in
establishing our three current programs - OMG-Certified UML Professional (OCUP);
OMG-Certified Expert in BPM (OCEB); and OMG-Certified Real-time and
Embedded Specialist (OCRES) - and now UTI continues as the single source
for Japanese-language OMG certifications throughout Asia."
"UTI is proud to support Japanese Systems Engineering as it moves
to MBSE using the important OMG standard language SysML," said Teruo
Yoshino, President, UTI. "This certification will benefit Japan's
many large engineering and manufacturing companies as they design and
build the large systems that support so much of our economy."
The OCSMP program is also made possible by sponsoring companies
Lockheed-Martin, IBM, and Sparx Systems, and supported by the
International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) through a liaison
relationship.
