OMG Announces New Processes Open for
Participation;
Architecture Board Election Results
Needham, MA, USA - December 21, 2010 - OMG® members met
in Santa Clara, Calif., the week of December 6-10, 2010,
sponsored by No Magic, IBM, SPARX Systems, and Real Time
Innovations. At this meeting members began work on four new
standards processes and elected five members to the
Architecture Board.
Architecture Board Election
Members of the OMG Architecture Board (AB) are
responsible for ensuring the architectural consistency of
OMG's specifications. The following members have been
elected by the membership to serve on the AB:
- Pete Rivett, CTO, Adaptive
- Tom Rutt, IT Standards Manager, Fujitsu
- Sridhar Iyengar, Distinguished Engineer, IBM
- Sam Mancarella, CTO, Sparx Systems
- Doug Tolbert, Principal, CSC
New Processes Initiated
The following processes are now open for comment and
participation. Non-members may download information on any
Request process from http://www.omg.org/public_schedule.
For more information on any process, send an email to info@omg.org.
Asynchronous
Method Invocation for CORBA Component Model (AMI4CCM) RFP
CORBA Component Model (CCM) currently only supports
synchronous two-way or asynchronous one-way invocations. For
many applications there is a need for asynchronous two-way
invocations. This RFP searches for proposals that make it
possible to make AMI calls from CCM components in a
standardized way.
IDL
to C++0x Language Mapping RFP
The C++ community has tentatively adopted a new draft
ISO C++ standard, unofficially named C++0x. This new C++
standard adds several features to the C++ programming
language, which should make it possible to create a modern
mapping that is more robust and easier to use. This RFP
solicits proposals for a totally new mapping for IDL to
C++0x.
Data
Distribution Service (DDS) Security RFP
DDS has experienced a record-breaking adoption within
the Aerospace and Defense domains, and is swiftly expanding
into new domains such as Transportation, Financial Services,
Telecommunications, and SCADA. Many of these systems control
critical functions or transmit sensitive information, which
must be protected. The objective of this RFP is to define
the set of Extensions to DDS required to provide Information
Assurance for systems built using DDS.
Using
Problem-Specific Views for Information Federation RFI
The objective of this RFI is to solicit opinions from
industry and academic institutions on specific issues that
relate to the federation of information via the mechanism of
the problem or context-specific views.
