Phil Gilbert, IBM to Give Plenary Presentation at
Business Ecology Initiative Conference "Optimization
for Innovation"
March 22, 2011, Arlington, VA
Needham, MA, USA - March 7, 2011 - OMG's® Business
Ecology® Initiative (BEI) today announced that Phil
Gilbert, Vice President of Business Process Management, IBM
Software Group, will present "The Renaissance of
Capitalism: Moving to the Capability Economy," at the
"Optimization for Innovation: Business Technology Reset
for the New Normal" conference. The one-day conference
will take place March 22, 2011 in Arlington, VA, USA. For
more information on the conference visit http://www.business-ecology.org/pr.
The inaugural Optimization for Innovation conference will
feature a mix of industry experts and practitioners from
such leading organizations as Pfizer, the U.S. Patent &
Trademark Office, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and
Forrester Research. Participants will be exposed to new
ideas and take away action plans to start making positive
change in their own organizations right away.
According to Gilbert, you need to turn every one of your
employees into entrepreneurs. They all need to be able to
speak in the language of capabilities. Employees need to
participate in how they fit into their processes, and your
people need to be recognized by what they can do, not who
they report to. Process-Driven is a new way to think about
doing business. If you become process-driven, you will
prosper. If you don't, you will fail. At a conference in
Boston in 2004 the CIO of a global toy manufacturer told a
story. "Five years ago," he said, "We had
more debt than revenues. We made virtually everything
ourselves. We had $400 million of inventory, on $2.5 billion
of sales. We were going broke. We had to change." This
session is about change, leverage, and process, and how
technology brought into the business in new ways, is
fundamental to this effort.
Additional Presentations Include:
Keynote: "Business Innovation in the
Cloud," by Peter Fingar, Author and
Business-Technology Advisor
"How Capabilities Assessment Can Increase
Effectiveness and Minimize Risk," presented by
Aleks Buterman, SenseAgility
"Creating Sustainable Innovation through Business

Management Systems for Marriott International

Business Transformation," a panel discussion led by

transformation planning

a Healthcare Ecosystem," presented by Christopher
Rieder, SVP & CIO, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care
