SysML Tutorial; Semantics in SOA, and Value Modeling Information Days
Highlight Upcoming OMG Technical Meeting in Santa Clara, Calif.

Plus a co-located meeting of the Cloud Standards Customer Council

Needham, MA – November 15, 2011 – OMG’s® upcoming Technical Meeting in Santa Clara, Calif., the week of December 12-16, 2011 will feature several Special Events, including tutorials, Information Days and a co-located meeting of the Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC). Special Events Overview

Tutorials

· Intro to OMG’s Modeling and Middleware Specifications – Monday, December 12
This tutorial gives a broad introduction to all of OMG’s modeling and middleware specifications.

· Introduction to OMG’s Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™) Tutorial – Thursday, December 15
This course will provide attendees with an understanding of: the benefits of model-based approaches for systems engineering; SysML diagrams and language concepts; and the role of SysML in a model-based SE process. Attendees will also receive a 10% discount voucher to take the OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional™ (OCSMP™) certification exam at a local Pearson Vue test center.

Information Days

· Semantics & SOA Services Information Day (Healthcare event) – Wednesday, December 14
The purpose of the one-day forum will be to explore approaches and relevant specification work to help enable and leverage rich information semantics within and across systems or in use for the Semantic Web. Though the workshop is being sponsored by the Healthcare group, the information presented has equal applicability for multiple vertical domains. The sessions will explore how these fundamental building blocks have been constructed and present use-cases on how they can be leveraged. The event will feature presentations from representatives of Kaiser-Permanente, Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Thematix Partners, LLC, Mayo Clinic, University of Utah Department of Biomedical Informatics, and National Center for Biomedical Ontology at Stanford University.

· Value Modeling Information Day: Business Model and Service Innovation Using Value Models – Wednesday, December 14
The emerging OMG standard VDML, Value Delivery Metamodel, provides a foundation for value modeling for different purposes, such as Business Model Innovation and Service Innovation and Design, as well as for organizational analysis and development of networked enterprises. VDML unifies different approaches for value modeling, including value networks, value chains and value streams, Resource-Event-Agent analysis models, business models and service models.

The Information Day will give a practical introduction to VDML, illustrated through a common example, explained from the various perspectives of VDML. The focus will be on a practical approach for Business Model Innovation using collaboration models and value models based on VDML as a foundation. Practical examples of Value Network Analysis, Business Model Innovation and Service Innovation will be illustrated.

Cloud Standards Customer Council

· Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC) Quarterly Meeting (co-located event) – Tuesday, December 13
Each Cloud Standards Customer Council quarterly face-to-face meeting features presentations from invited speakers as well as updates on the status of projects from the CSCC Working Groups. This meeting will include a case study presentation from a Salesforce.com customer and: Developing a Unified Approach to Information Security in Cloud Engagements with Michael R. Overly, Esq., CISA, CISSP, CIPP, ISSMP, CRISC, Foley & Lardner LLP; and Yusuf Cassim of Charles Schwab & Co.
