OMG Members Initiate New Specifications for
UML Profile for Clinical Models; and RPC Over DDS
New
Specifications Adopted at Recent OMG Technical Meeting
Needham,
MA, USA – July 18, 2012 –
OMG® members met in Cambridge, MA, the week
of June 18-22, 2012, sponsored by No Magic, and SPARX
Systems. At this meeting members began work on two new
standards processes and adopted two new specifications and
four revised or finalized specifications.
New Groups Chartered
OMG’s
Government Information Sharing and Services Domain Task
Force chartered a new “Information Sharing Working
Group.” The group will be co-chaired by Carrie Boyle of the
PM-ISE and Iveta Topalova-Dimitrova of Microsoft.
Participation is open to all OMG members.
OMG members
have chartered the “Smart
Data Coalition Domain Special Interest Group.” The group
will be led by Dr. Harsh Sharma of Citigroup and Mike
Bennett of EDM Council.
New Processes Initiated
The following processes are
now open for comment and participation. Non-members may
download information on any Request process from
http://www.omg.org/public_schedule. For more information
on any process, send an email to
info@omg.org.
Archetype Modeling Language (AML) RFP (A UML Profile for
Modeling Archetypes)
This RFP
is focused on developing a UML profile that enables the
specification of the Clinical Information Modeling
Initiative (CIMI) reference model, and CIMI clinical models
that are defined as a set of constraints on this reference
model. It is anticipated that this modeling approach will be
developed in such a way that it is generalizable for use
with other reference models and in other domain areas.
RPC over DDS RFP
Although
DDS provides first class support for distributed state and
event, there is currently less support for synchronous
two-way interactions, thus leading users to implement their
own ad hoc solution over DDS. This RFP calls for a
systematic solution to this problem by means of a Remote
Procedure Calls (RPC) extension to the DDS specification.
This extension will allow commands to be naturally
represented as remote method invocations.

The
following specifications were approved by the OMG Board of
Directors. All OMG specifications are available for free
download by the public on our website.
