Certification Program Updated by OMG
Project Stakeholders, Developers as well as
Software Designers and Architects Now Benefit from OCUP 2
Needham, MA - 07-15-14 - The Object Management Group®
(OMG®) is pleased to announce the release of the first
updated examination in the OMG Certified UML Professional 2
(OCUP 2) certification program. The OCUP 2 Foundation Level
examination, which replaces the original OCUP Fundamental
exam, reflects improvements made to the organization's
Unified Modeling Language (UML) through the most current
OCUP 2 tests UML knowledge and skills in the context of
software modeling, unlike the original OCUP program which
concentrated on UML language syntax. Recognizing that
completed models may be passed to practitioners who play
many roles, OMG has broadened the scope of the Foundation
level to serve these model users in addition to the model
builders that have traditionally acquired OCUP
certification. This enhanced coverage encompasses the
knowledge and skills used by software implementers, project
stakeholders, technical managers, and documentation writers
as they read and interpret UML models to gather the
information they need to make the decisions required by
their job tasks and roles.
"OMG is pleased to bring the OCUP Certification
Program up-to-date in this way" said Dr. Jon Siegel,
Vice President of Technology Transfer and Director of
Certification at OMG. "OCUP has been our most popular
certification for quite some time and, based on its
increased value to both candidate and management, we look
forward to OCUP 2 continuing as the most popular
certification program in the years ahead."
OCUP 2 examinations are offered worldwide in English at
Pearson VUE testing centers and will cost US$200 in native
English-speaking countries; US$210 in countries where
English is not the native language and testing time is
extended by 30 minutes. Candidates who have already taken
the original OCUP examination may request an OCUP 2 discount
voucher from OMG. Granted on a sliding scale, the discount
starts at 10% but reaches 100% for those who took their
original OCUP Fundamental exam most recently. OCUP 2
certification at a particular level is valid for five years.
