Larry Johnson, the OMG Technical Director, characterized the importance of attending a TC meeting this way, "Technical collaboration requires the close exchange of ideas and open discussion. This, in turn, requires an environment of mutual trust and understanding. Technical Committee meetings provide the perfect backdrop for participants to get to know one another in formal and informal meetings and over dinner. Knowing an associate personally means there is less chance of emails and teleconferences being misinterpreted. This enables fruitful discussions to continue smoothly between face-to-face meetings."
