Overview

OMG created OCUP to provide a certification, an objective indication, of your knowledge of UML®, OMG's Unified Modeling Language™.

This will benefit you by giving you an important credential to present to employers and clients. It also benefits companies looking for skilled UML practitioners like you, by giving them a basis for making hiring and promotion decisions.

The Exams

There are three OCUP Exams - Fundamental, Intermediate and Advanced. Each Exam tests your knowledge of a different subset of the UML and shows what you can do.

FUNDAMENTAL	Qualified to be a member of a UML Development Team.
INTERMEDIATE	Qualified to be a senior member of a UML Development Team.
ADVANCED	Qualified to manage a UML Development Team.

OCUP Program

The OCUP Program was developed and is run as a joint program of OMG and the UML Technology Institute (UTI). Thomson Pearson VUE is the exclusive provider of testing sites and services for the OCUP Program.

OMG will spread and promote the OCUP Program, while UTI will collaborate on its promotion and administration in the Asia-Pacific region.

About OMG

The Object Management Group is an open membership, not-for-profit consortium that produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications. Our membership includes virtually every large company in the computer industry, and hundreds of smaller ones. Most of the companies that shape enterprise and Internet computing today are represented on our Board of Directors.

Our flagship specification is the multi-platform Model Driven Architecture (MDA), recently underway but already well known in the industry. It is based on a complete array of modeling specifications - UML, MOF, XMI, and CWM.

About UTI

The UML Technology Institute Co., Ltd. was founded to promote the use of open, standards-based modeling technologies through the development of international certification programs that provide formal recognition of modeling expertise.

With headquarters in Tokyo, UTI was established in November 2002 by PA Co., Ltd. and Object Technology Institute, the OMG Representative in Japan. UTI, the principal partner of the OCUP, administers the program in Asian Pacific countries including India and Oceania, while OMG administers it in the rest of the world.
