Plenary Sessions

The primary plenary business of the LSR will be:

Receiving a presentation of a new initial submissions against LSR RFP-8 "Chemical Structure";
Receiving a presentation of a new initial submissions against LSR RFP-9 "LECIS";

Architecture & Roadmap WG

Revisit the LSR roadmap and the problems of interest to the community.
Check on the progress of documenting some examples of software architectures (conceptual frameworks).
Continue the discussion of LSR common practices.

Bibliographic Services WG

The working group will not meet in Irvine.

Cheminformatics WG

The strategy of the Cheminformatics Working Group is:

First to establish standard interfaces for chemical structures and queries on collections of chemical structures (a limited definition which is confined to well connected graphs plus salts plus tautomers, two dimensional representations plus stereochemistry as known plus 3D coordinates as known)
Second to spawn two independent streams of activity:
- Compound management: including samples, substances, mixtures, containers, inventory and ordering
- Synthesis: including reactions, libraries and series.
Future and additional work will be undertaken when sufficient interest emerges to shepherd that work through completion in addition to the above topics.

What's happening now?

At the OMG Meeting in Irvine, the Cheminformatics Working Group will progress the RFI for Chemical Sample Management, Representation and Interface Definition, with the intention of issuing this RFI at the next meeting.
In addition, the WG will continue evaluation of initial submissions against the CSAR RFP. Optimistically, submitters of initial proposals (Tripos, NetGenics, Advanced Chemistry Development/Intelligent Solutions) will present a united draft final submission for review in Irvine.
