This LSR meeting will take place immediately after the OiB-98 conference, which is taking place on 3rd and 4th August 1998. Here are some pictures from last year's OiB-97 conference. Registration for the OiB-98 conference is separate to that for the LSR meeting.
It is worth noting that the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus is located in the countryside. For shopping or other entertainment it is necessary to go to Cambridge city centre.
Transport to and from Cambridge
During the LSR meeting a coach will run between Cambridge train station (it will have an OiB sign) to the Hinxton campus and back at the following times:
Day | Morning | Evening |
Wed 5th Aug | 0815 Cambridge train station | 2215 Hinxton |
Thur 6th Aug | 0815 Cambridge train station | 1830 Hinxton - King's College 2230 King's College - Hinxton |
Fri 7th Aug | 0815 Cambridge train station | 1530 Hinxton |
It will be much easier for LSR participants who are also attending OiB-98 if they are housed on site, so please book the on-site accommodation as soon as possible to avoid difficulties.
Electric power in the UK is 240V, 50Hz AC, supplied through 13 Amp sockets accepting plugs with 3 large rectangular pins. Telephones use the British Telecom modular jack. This is *not* the same as the US RJ11 jack. Be sure you bring the right adaptor. The nearest shopping facilities to the campus are about five miles away.
Delegates not wishing to stay on-site may try some of the other hotels in the Cambridge/Saffron Walden area. If you are staying in Cambridge city centre, it is essential that you inform the organisers in your registration form if you require transport between the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus conference and Cambridge city centre. Doing so will ensure that a coach seat will be reserved for you on the free shuttle service. The organisers will not be held responsible for additional costs if you fail to let us know of your requirement and the coach is full.
: Accommodation is limited and difficult to find in Cambridge during the summer months, please register early and confirm your hotel accommodation to avoid difficulties.
