Today's healthcare environment - from the operating room to
patient records and administrative systems - continues to be
plagued by a lack of integration across disparate devices,
systems, and processes. Practices used to develop and
integrate healthcare solutions have not kept up with
technology and other advancements over the past decade. The
ability for organizations to keep up with these changes
remains a challenge. Further complicating matters is the
need for organizations to both realize value from their
latent investments in IT, and to gracefully and effectively
evolve, modernize, and complement those investments with new
capabilities and technologies.
Model-Driven Healthcare: The Modernization, Integration,
and Innovation Summit is a one-day workshop focused on
these issues - bringing together thought leaders from
government agencies, system integrators, and practitioners
to discuss these challenges and to determine which
strategies and practices are well suited to determine an
optimal path forward. The recent Presidential Council of
Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) Report (Report
to the President - Better Health Care and Lower Costs:
Accelerating Improvement Through Systems Engineering)
identified systems engineering as a critical element of a
National Healthcare Delivery Strategy. Drawing on
experiences both inside and beyond the health care industry,
this event explores how model-based systems engineering
(MBSE) can be applied to support development and integration
of balanced healthcare solutions to address the breadth of
stakeholder-needs from the patient to medical staff to
administrators, insurers, and regulators
Join us in Reston, VA on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015, for
the second Model-Driven Healthcare Summit (information on
the first summit can be found here),
where we continue the conversation to determine how this
widely-recognized practice from other industries will fit
into today's healthcare settings.
