OMG Tells Business Community to Mind Their Business
Hosts event in Long Beach, California on supporting business communications

Needham, MA - 10-14-14 - The Object Management Group® (OMG®) will be hosting the event, "Mind Your Business -- OMG Standards in Support of Business Communication", on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, California.

The event will be focus on how OMG standards - which traditionally are set and created for technologists - can benefit and be applied to the business industry. Particular OMG standards that have been set to be used by the business community and will be discussed during the event include:

  • Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR) -- develops constraints and obligations in a business dictionary such as business policies, contract terms and conditions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) -- defines financial industry terms, definitions and synonyms using semantic web principles and widely adopted OMG modeling standards.

The keynote presentation, "Language Drives Business", will be delivered by Kara Warburton, Consultant in Terminology Management, Termologic and International Chair of the ISO TC37. The keynote will discuss the importance of a properly developed vocabulary in virtually any business process.

"It's a complete misconception that OMG standards are only for technologists, when in fact, business professionals can benefit as well," said John Hall of the Rule ML Initiative. "For example, OMG semantic standards can provide a formal dictionary that removes ambiguity from business governance documents - where a misunderstanding can have serious consequences. If you're a business professional and you've never explored the benefits of OMG standards, you need to come to this event."

The registration fee for this event is $199 USD. Click here to view the full agenda and register.
