Richard Mark Soley
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Richard Mark Soley is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the
Object Management Group, Inc.
(OMG).
In this position, Dr. Soley oversees all of the operations of the leading
industry consortium detailing and publicizing standards in distributed systems
using object-oriented development and execution environments.
In addition, Dr. Soley is an active part of OMG's conference and seminar
planning as an advisor to Softbank COMDEX's Object World subsidiary, and also serves on the
editorial board of the OMG-sponsored DOC
Magazine.
Dr. Soley, until September 1997 Vice President and Technical Director of the
OMG since its founding, is also Acting Technical Director of the Group,
overseeing the OMG Technology Committees, which are responsible for producing
standards documents, adopting OMG-standard technology, and proposal of new
technology to the OMG membership and the OMG Board of Directors. In this
capacity Dr. Soley directs the efforts of the 1000+ member
Technology
Committees and their more than twenty working groups, made up of
representatives of all OMG member companies.
Previously, Dr. Soley was a cofounder and former Chairman/CEO of A. I.
Architects, Inc., maker of the 386 HummingBoard and other PC and workstation
hardware and software. Prior to that, he consulted for various technology
companies and venture firms on matters pertaining to software investment
opportunities. Dr. Soley has also consulted for
IBM,
Motorola, PictureTel,
Texas Instruments,
Gold Hill Computer and others.
A native of
Baltimore,
Maryland,
U.S.A., Dr. Soley
holds the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in Computer Science and
Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology.
