Experts predict that the Internet of Things will
disrupt entire industries and instigate sweeping changes in the way
of doing business for years to come. And while there are enormous
benefits in efficiency and economy, these benefits are not without
risks to privacy and security. The need for standards and protocols
that allow machine-to-machine communication and data sharing is
clear. The need for security, privacy and system assurance standards
is becoming clearer.
This joint presentation by the Object Management Group ® (OMG ®)
and the Industrial Internet Consortium ® (IIC) will take a closer
look at some of the challenges and opportunities presented by the
Industrial Internet of Things.
OMG has been active in IIoT standardization from long before
"IIoT" became an industry buzzword. Many OMG standards are
proving integral to IIoT efforts around the globe; DDS™ (Data
Distribution Service™), SysML™ (Systems Modeling Language™)
and IFML™ (Interaction Flow Modeling Language™) are contributing
to the improved productivity, major cost savings, and streamlined
processes of the Industrial Internet.
OMG's Systems Assurance Task Force (SysA TF) works on standards that
ensure the reliability, safety and security of IIoT systems to help
the Industrial Internet of Things deliver on its promise without
succumbing to the threats it faces. In addition, the OMG-managed
Consortium for IT Software Quality™ (CISQ™) specifies how to
measure quality points including reliability and security that are
vital to the systems and processes of the Industrial Internet.
The IIC, founded in 2014, is the global not-for-profit
public-private partnership of 250+ member organizations, joining
together to accelerate the growth of the Industrial Internet.
Membership includes the world's most innovative companies, bringing
together corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers and
governments into one community to advance innovation, share best
practices and solve the tough challenges ahead in interoperability,
security and innovation.
Industry leaders from both the OMG and the IIC will discuss the
latest trends, present case studies and join together in a panel
discussion focused on IIoT security. Join us at this complimentary
event by registering below.
