The OMG’s goal is not just to create commercial
consensus through standards, but also to ensure that those standards
get used in the marketplace. As it has for seventeen plus years
already, OMG continues to nurture the marketplace of interoperable
software, one in which users can purchase standards-compliant
software “off the shelf.” A great deal of this standards advancement
work happens via email and conference calls, but also, most
importantly, during the week of the OMG Technical Meetings, which
happen four times per year. During the week, members advance
technology through the group’s adoption process, attend special
events and tutorials, and view demonstrations of OMG-compliant
products.
For companies and organizations that are not yet OMG members, there
exists a great opportunity to learn about what initiatives are
underway in the form of Seminars and Tutorials. During the
Seminars and Tutorials, OMG members give presentations
related to their particular areas of standards development work to
both OMG members and non-members. This work is at the cutting edge
of technology and highlights just a few of the many vertical
industries in which OMG members are active. By attending an
Seminar or Tutorial session, you will learn about future
standards directions and also how you and your organization can
participate and influence our standards.
