IDC Research Director To Deliver Keynote at Event on Internet of Things
Will address the rise of machines in Machine-to-Machine communication

Needham, MA- 09-10-2013-The Object Management Group (OMG®) is pleased to introduce Les Santiago, Research Director of Semiconductors Research at the International Data Corporation (IDC) as the keynote speaker at "The Internet of Things - Navigating the Future of Information Technology" event. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 25th at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ.

Mr. Santiago's address will take place immediately after a brief welcome introduction by OMG's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Richard Soley at 9:00am EST. It will focus on machine-to-machine (M2M) communication amongst intelligent systems and traditional embedded systems alike.

"We believe that, in the near term, M2M will be used to deliver process efficiencies, automation, and information analysis," said Mr. Santiago. "Eventually, M2M systems will transform businesses by delivering new real-time business models, new revenue streams, and new levels of customer service. In addition, we note that while the standardization of connectivity technologies of systems is a challenge given the number of connectivity technologies and their respective backers, the standards debate around platforms (especially service delivery platforms) will be one of the key enablers or restrainers- depending on how it plays out- of M2M growth."

The all-day Internet of Things event will focus on the increasing number of networked devices that have appeared on the market in recent years and will contribute to forming the foundation of the Internet of Things. In particular, the use of the OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard will be discussed. Case studies detailing DDS's uses in Smart Cities, Smart Energy, and Transportation will provide a basis as to the specification's capabilities in regards to Internet of Things applications.

Registration fees for the event begin at $199 USD. Interested members of the public are encouraged to attend. For more information and to register, visit https://www.omg.org/nj-13
