OMG Holds Architecture Board Elections; Adopts Multiple Standards At Santa Clara, CA Meeting

Needham, MA- 01-15-2014-The Object Management Group (OMG®) held its quarterly technical meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, CA from December 9th-13th. ARCHITECTURE BOARD ELECTIONS
Five OMG Member representatives were elected to the organization's Architecture Board for two-year terms, to begin in March 2014. They are:

  • J.D. Baker, EA Ambassador, Sparx Systems
  • Angelo Corsaro, PhD, CTO, Prismtech
  • Manfred Koethe, President & CTO, 88solutions
  • Doug Tolbert, Consulting Engineer, Unisys
  • Hugues Vincent, Software Architect, Thales

TASK FORCE/WORKING GROUP MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
At the System Assurance Task Force meeting, Gerald Beuchelt of Demandware, Inc. made a presentation on modeling information security threats. Gerald's presentation marks the beginning of a multi-phase project to create UML-based specifications allowing system engineers and architects to represent threats against multiple systems and standards, including systems-of-systems. TECHNOLOGIES ADOPTED
The OMG Board of Directors adopted multiple technologies at the meeting. These include: the Decision Model & Notation submission and the Application Instrumentation submission.

Also adopted were the Finalization Task Force reports for: NIEM-UML, UML 2.5, Canonical XMI, and IDL 3.5. The following Revision Task Force reports were also adopted: BMM 1.2, GEMS 1.3, and OCL 2.4. For more information, visit www.omg.org/spec/index.htm

RFCs, RFIs, AND RFPs ISSUED
New Requests for Comments (RFCs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) were issued during the meeting week. These include:

  • FIBO Business Entities RFC
  • Ontology Model and Specification Integration & Interoperability RFP
  • UML Testing Profile V2 RFP
