Leaders in IIoT Security Standards to Meet at DC Event in March
Focus on Role Standards Play to Shape a More Secure IIoT

Needham, MA - February 27, 2017 - The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced it will hold the OMG Standards at Work in the IIoT - Focus on Security complimentary event on Wednesday, March 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Reston, Virginia. Experts and OMG Task Force chairs will weigh in about the latest security trends and the role that OMG standards play in making the Industrial Internet of Things safe, secure and reliable. Admission is complimentary but registration is required. Media can register using the code TCVAP17.

Speakers include Dr. Allan Friedman, Director of Cybersecurity at National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) in the U.S. Department of Commerce. He coordinates NTIA's multi-stakeholder processes on cybersecurity, including the initiative on IoT security upgradability. His presentation will address both technical and market issues about this effort. Dr. Friedman is also the co-author of Cybersecurity and Cyberwar: What Everyone Needs to Know.

The event also features: Robert Martin, Senior Principal Engineer, Cyber Security Partnerships from The MITRE Corporation; Dr. Ben Calloni, Lockheed Martin Fellow, Lockheed Martin, Co-Chair of the OMG System Assurance Task Force and OMG Board of Director member; and Stephen Mellor, CTO of the Industrial Internet Consortium® who will take a closer look at IIoT security challenges and opportunities. Andrew Watson, OMG Vice President and Technical Director, will highlight how OMG standards contribute to ensuring the security of IIoT systems.
