Real-Time Innovations Renews Annual Object Management Group Sponsorship
Ninth consecutive year supporting advancement of technology standards

NEEDHAM, Mass. – June 5, 2019 – The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, today announced that Real-Time Innovations (RTI) has renewed its annual sponsorship of the consortium. A leader in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity space, RTI has been an annual sponsor of OMG since 2010 and has been actively involved in OMG for 20 years. As a member and Gold sponsor, RTI continues to demonstrate its commitment and leadership in establishing standards throughout the technology industry.

"RTI has been a driving force in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) connectivity, lending its expertise in shaping and drafting many important efforts based on the OMG Data Distribution Service™ (DDS™) standard," said OMG Chairman and CEO Dr. Richard Soley. "We are delighted to have RTI as both a member and sponsor, and look forward to its continued influence and expertise in IIoT connectivity based on open standards."

"The DDS standard has become the key connectivity platform for highly autonomous and mission-critical systems," said Gerardo Pardo Castellote, CTO of RTI and Co-Chair to the Data-Distribution Service Platform Special Interest Group (DDS PSIG). "DDS is now recognized by top industry organizations, such as AUTOSAR, ROS and the IIC™, and is utilized by the world's most innovative companies. We are excited to not only renew our support for the OMG, but also to increase our leadership role through the new DDS Foundation. We look forward to continuing to establish DDS as the industry's dominant connectivity standard."

As one of the primary authors of the original DDS specification, RTI co-chairs the DDS special interest group, which is responsible for the standardization of the DDS specification — a middleware protocol and API standard for data-centric connectivity that integrates the components of a system together, providing the security, scalability, performance, and Quality of Service required to support IIoT applications.

In addition to being an OMG member and sponsor, RTI also serves on the OMG Board of Directors, and holds several leadership roles in the new DDS Foundation.
