SysML® AND SYSML V2 (Systems Modeling Language®)

What is SysML?

The OMG Systems Modeling Language (SysML) is a general-purpose modeling language for specifying, analyzing, designing, and verifying complex systems that may include hardware, software, information, personnel, procedures, and facilities.

Since its initial adoption in 2007, SysML has continued to evolve to meet the needs of the systems modeling community. The Object Management Group (OMG) adopted SysML v1.7 in June 2024 and the next-generation systems modeling language (SysML v2.0) in June 2025. It is anticipated that SysML v1 will continue to be used for several years as industry, academia, and government transition from SysML v1 to SysML v2.
