SST AIAA Award

Marilee Wheaton presented the SysML v2 Submission Team (SST) with the 2025 Systems Engineering of the Year Award "in recognition for the development of the SysML v2 Specification as the next generation Systems Modeling Language to enable the evolving practice of model-based systems engineering (MBSE)". The award was presented to the SST co-leads Sanford Friedenthal and Ed Seidewitz on behalf of the SST on February 1, 2026 at the INCOSE International Workshop in Torrance, California.

The SysML v2 Submission Team (SST) was initiated in December 2017 and developed the specifications culminating in the final submission of the KerML, SysML v2 and Systems Modeling API and Services specifications to the OMG. The specifications were formally approved by the OMG in June 2025. The SST members represented many different organizations, many of whom are members of INCOSE and the OMG.
